Move-Out Checklist

Notice of Intent to VacatePlanning to move out of your rental home? Please refer to the terms and conditions outlined in your lease to determine the legal move-out date for your property. We ask that you please provide us with written notice of your intent to vacate the home so we can begin preparing for the next residents.

Property ConditionBefore handing in the keys for your rental, you need to bring the property back to rent-ready condition. This includes the following:

Rental Cleaning:

  1. Dust and Wipe Down Surfaces: Dust all surfaces, including shelves, countertops, and baseboards. Wipe them down with a damp cloth.
  2. Clean Appliances: Thoroughly clean the refrigerator, oven, microwave, and other appliances. Remove any food or debris.
  3. Scrub Bathrooms: Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and tubs or showers. Pay attention to grout and mold if present.
  4. Sweep and Mop Floors: Sweep and mop all floors, including carpets, hardwood, and tile.
  5. Wash Windows and Mirrors: Clean windows and mirrors inside and out. Remove streaks and spots for a sparkling finish.
  6. Repair Wall Damage: Patch any holes or dents in walls and touch up with paint if needed.
  7. Replace Light Bulbs: Ensure all light bulbs are working.
  8. Check for Pest Issues: Arrange for pest control if necessary, and leave the home pest-free.
  9. Empty and Clean Cabinets and Closets: Remove all items, clean shelves, and wipe down interiors.
  10. Dispose of Trash: Take out all trash and recyclables and clean trash cans.
  11. Outdoor Areas: If applicable, sweep the porch, patio, or balcony and ensure the yard is well-maintained.
  12. Final Walkthrough: Before you leave, do a final walkthrough to ensure nothing has been missed and that the home is in the same condition as when you moved in.

Security DepositWe will perform a final inspection following your departure from your rental home. If we identify any damage, we will schedule necessary repairs. The costs for these repairs will be deducted from your deposit.

Remember, you cannot use your deposit to pay your final rent payment. After we have performed the final inspection and taken care of any repairs, unpaid fees on your account, or other monies owed, we will return the remainder to you with an itemized statement.
